Texas Tech Red Raiders vs. Texas Longhorns Game Predictions

Here are the Longhorns Country staff's predictions for the Texas Tech vs Texas Longhorns Week 13 showdown.
In this story:

The Texas Longhorns are extremely close to earning a Big 12 conference championship berth. However, in their last scheduled matchup before moving over to the SEC, the Longhorns will face a hungry Texas Tech Red Raiders team on Friday night.

The Red Raiders currently have a 6-5 overall record, but they have won three consecutive games during their past few weeks which means that they have momentum approaching Texas' matchup.

Here are the Longhorns Country staff's predictions for the Texas Tech versus Texas matchup in Week 13 of the 2023 season.

This will be the last time in a while - maybe ever - that the Longhorns and Red Raiders face off in the regular season. And it is Austin. Texas is by far the better team and should route Tech.

The Horns will also make a statement to the College Football Playoff committee, with six teams currently sitting ahead of them in the rankings.

This game can be weird, but I think Texas takes care of business in a big way.

The Red Raiders barely defeated the Texas Longhorns in overtime last season by a field goal, meaning that the Longhorns are looking for revenge. Overall, Texas is better equipped, but that is not to say that Texas Tech does not stand a chance. As far as the quarterback battle, however, the Red Raiders are relying on backup Behren Morton after starter Tyler Shough broke his fibula in Week 4 of the season. Comparing Texas' quarterback Quinn Ewers to Morton on the stats sheet may be Texas Tech's biggest downfall.

It has to happen, right? The luck has to run out at some point for the Longhorns. All these close calls and could-be losses must eventually catch up with the program known for its implosion.

And maybe it will, but it'll have to happen in Arlington. Brett Yormark will watch as the Longhorns punch their ticket to the Big 12 title game in their final season as conference members. Momentum builds as the College Football Playoff is within reach.

In what will be their final meeting as conference rivals, Texas and Texas Tech are set to square off in what could be the most important meeting yet. The Longhorns need a win to keep their College Football Playoff hopes alive, while Texas Tech is looking to ruin their season.

Texas has looked somewhat vulnerable for the last month or so, but has managed to stay afloat. I think this will be another game closer than it should be, but Texas will win.
