Urban Meyer Reveals Texas, Oregon, And Alabama Are 'Major Challenge' For CFP Committee

The College Football Playoff committee will have a tough task ahead of them if teams like Texas win out.

While every college football fan, team, player, and analyst knows that the College Football Playoff rankings will eventually work themselves out, we all still have a tendency to get worked up over them.

The top four teams this season may likely be the most controversial of any year, the group of one-loss teams has caused even more of a stir. There are three one-loss teams that even though they don't have a "0" in that loss column, they are still widely viewed as being one of the best teams in the country that could very well make the playoff.

Those teams are No. 6 Oregon, No. 7 Texas, and No. 8 Alabama, all of whom have a clear path to the College Football Playoff should they win out. However, while it's simple for them to make in terms of what they need to do (win), if teams ahead of them win out it would cause quite a stir. Something Urban Meyer recently touched on, explaining that these three teams will continue to be a "major challenge" for the playoff committee.

Meyer broke down just how good he thinks the three are, saying they are among the best in the country.

“Reality is, the College Football Playoff committee is doing the right thing,” Meyer said, via On3. "To say Alabama, Texas, and Oregon are not as good as anyone in the country right now — you’re mistaken. Because you push play and you watch the film, the All-22 against who they play and the style of offense, defense, and the athletes on the field. Those three teams, to me, to say they’re not in the top four, you’re mistaken. At the end of the day, I think they will be.”

Texas, who has often fallen short when they dictate their destiny, needs to control what they can control and win one game at a time. The Longhorns will take on TCU this weekend, in what will be the return of Quinn Ewers.
