The Texas Longhorns had a late surge in the fourth quarter that saw them score 10 points and drive down the field in the final 45 seconds during Monday night's matchup against the Washington Huskies in the College Football Playoff at the Sugar Bowl.

The drive set up four attempts at the end zone to score what would have been a game-winning touchdown to send them to the national title game, but instead, a throw with a bit too much air from Quinn Ewers was hit out of bounds. The Huskies advanced to the National Championship, which naturally gave them bragging rights right after the game.

Following the conclusion of the game, a few Washington players made sure to let Texas fans hear it after the win, something that has since created a viral moment that many people across social media are discussing, laughing about, and/or cringing at.

With the win, the Huskies will now advance to the title game in Houston. They will take on No. 1 Michigan, which took down No. 4 Alabama in the Rose Bowl.

There were three main things that hurt the Longhorns in the loss more than that one fan's ego. They were unable to generate consistent pressure on Michael Penix Jr. who is a savant in the pocket. They had two crucial fumbles lost by their young running backs, one of which set up Washington's field goal to extend the lead to 10 after Texas had been matching all game. Lastly, Penix torched the secondary as he had done to every defense all year.

Longhorns Can't Slow Down Michael Penix Jr. To Advance To Title

The Longhorns will have to learn from this and get ready for a gauntlet in 2024 for what will be their first SEC season.
