On Saturday, the No. 7 Texas Longhorns welcomed a new foe to town.

First-year Big 12 team BYU is in Austin looking to derail Texas' season, but it has been the defense and special teams for the Longhorns that have been the difference. After Texas went up by a score of 7-0 thanks to an Xavier Worthy punt return that he took 55 yards for a touchdown.

After Texas again forced a Kedon Slovis interception following a Maalik Murphy interception, the Longhorns leaned on the run the game the next drive. They ran the ball on three of their five plays, and the drive ended with star running back Jonathon Brooks powering the score from four yards out.

The touchdown gave Texas a 14-0 lead, as they look to win their second straight game.

Brooks continues to shine for Texas after being the third fiddle to both current Atlanta Falcons star Bijan Robinson, and Chicago Bears running back Roschon Johnson who both dominated the backfield for Texas the past couple years. The touchdown gives the Hallettsville, Texas native his seventh rushing score of the year.

The biggest storyline of this matchup heading into the game was the absence of Quinn Ewers at quarterback. The Longhorns' leading signal-caller went down against Houston last week in their 31-24 win over the Houston Cougars. The injury was reported as a sprained AC joint, and there is an expectation that Ewers will be week-to-week, which means that Texas will have an inexperienced quarterback in the most important stretch of their season.
