WATCH: Longhorns Begin 2024 Offseason Winter Workouts
AUSTIN -- The Texas Longhorns are back on the field for the first time since falling to Washington in heartbreaking fashion in the College Football Playoff at the Sugar Bowl on New Year's Day.
The team took the turf at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on Friday amid foggy, wet and chilly conditions in the Austin area, and Texas Football shared a short video on X (formerly Twitter) of the players working out.
Notable players in the video included Quinn Ewers, Johntay Cook, Justice Finkley, Barryn Sorrell, Jaylon Guilbeau, C.J. Baxter, Terrance Brooks, David Gbenda, Anthony Hill, Morice Blackwell Jr., 2024 signee Kobe Black and more.
Take a look:
The Longhorns will continue to build the foundations of the 2024 squad by developing a chemistry during the cold winter months. While Texas has many major names returning next season, there's also been a huge gap left by the NFL departures of guys like T'Vondre Sweat, Xavier Worthy, Jaylan Ford, Jonathon Brooks, Adonai Mitchell, Byron Murphy, Ja'Tavion Sanders, Ryan Watts, Keilan Robinson and Jordan Whittington.
All of these players had a significant impact during Texas' memorable season. If the Longhorns want to get back to the CFP for the first 12-team pool next year, they'll need tons of new contributors to step up.
