No. 5 Longhorns vs. No 9 Jayhawks: Live Game Updates

The Longhorns remain in the state of Kansas for a pivotal Big 12 showdown against the Jayhawks.

The No. 5 Texas Longhorns (19-4, 8-2) are once again on the road in the state of Kansas on Monday, as they are heading to Lawrence to take on the No. 9 Kansas Jayhawks (18-5, 6-4). 

Texas enters the pivotal Big 12 showdown riding a mini two-game winning streak looking to make it three straight wins. Their latest win was a come from behind 69-66 victory over Kansas State that helped them hold onto sole possession of first place.

As for the Jayhawks, they find themselves looking to rebound from a 68-53 blowout loss at the hands of Iowa State. A win for the Jayhawks keeps them in the thick of things for yet another conference title. 

While Texas has had the better scoring offense, at 79.4 points per game to Kansas' 75.6, the two teams have been rather similar on the defensive end of the court as they've held opponents to 67.6 and 68 points per game respectively.

FIRST HALF

Under-16 media timeout 

Despite four early turnovers the Longhorns enter the first media timeout only down by three. Rice stays red hot, leading the Longhorns in scoring with five points. Kansas will have an and-one out of the timeout.

We enter the under-12 media timeout with the Longhorns in a scoring drought over the last 2:11 of action. They trail by 5 in what has been an entertaining game so far, with Rice's 8 points still leading the way.

Under-8 media timeout 

We've hit the under-8 media timeout and the Longhorns are doing their best to stay in this one. They've cut the Kansas lead back down to 10, as they look to overcome an unseemly eight turnovers.

At the final media timeout of the half Texas finds themselves trailing by 9. What was once a 14-point lead has been chipped away at, as the Longhorns look to overcome yet another double digit deficit.

HALFTIME

Carr drains the pull-up three and Kansas' shot at the buzzer is no good, so the Longhorns enter the locker room trailing by 7 after trailing by as much as 14.

Allen has found his stroke, shooting 4-for-6 and leading the way with 10 points.

SECOND HALF

Under-16 media timeout

Bishop is called for the travel which brings us to the first media timeout of the second half. The Longhorns find themselves trailing by 1, looking to overcome yet another double digit deficit.

The Longhorns trail by 6 at the media timeout after what we'll call an iffy no-call on an Allen bucket. Carr leads the way with 15 points as Texas is hanging around in this one.

Things have gotten sloppy for Texas and they find themselves trailing by 11 heading into the final media timeout. This one is slipping away from the Longhorns in a hurry.

The Longhorns can't pull out another come from behind win, as they never led in this one and fall just short on the road. Carr led the way for Texas with 29 points in the losing effort.
