Nets Trade Longhorns Ex Kevin Durant to Suns in Mega-Deal - Full Details
The Phoenix Suns have agreed to a trade with the Brooklyn Nets to acquire forward and former Texas Longhorns superstar Kevin Durant in exchange for a slew of assets, per reports from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski early Thursday morning.
The Suns are reportedly sending Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder, four first-round picks and a 2028 pick swap in exchange for Durant and forward TJ Warren.
The move comes on the heels of Brooklyn dealing guard Kyrie Irving to the Dallas Mavericks on Monday. Durant, who is currently missing action with a knee injury, reportedly requested to the Nets front office that he be traded to Phoenix following Irving's departure.
The league's trade deadline is Thursday at 2 p.m. CT.
Durant is averaging 29.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists this season. With his and Irving's efforts, the Nets had shown improvement's near the top of the Eastern Conference standings after a disappointing season last year.
But Durant's time in Brooklyn is now over despite joining the team with championship-or-bust expectations.
Durant was the No. 2 overall pick in 2007 by the Seattle Supersonics after dominating college basketball in his one season at Texas. In his freshman season with the Longhorns, Durant averaged 25.8 points, 11.1 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.9 blocks and 1.9 steals in 35 career games.
