Texas had been projected as a No. 8 or 9 seed in most bracketologies leading up to Sunday, so the jump up to a No. 7 comes as a bit of a surprise.

Despite falling to Kansas State in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament, the Longhorns built a respectable at-large resume throughout the season thanks to an abundance of opportunities against high-level opponents in the conference. Texas, which played against 11 ranked opponents this season, had its most notable wins come in ranked victories over Baylor, Oklahoma and TCU, with the final two the highlight of four conference road wins.

Texas will enter the NCAA Tournament with a 20-12 overall record and a 9-9 conference mark. The Longhorns finished as the seventh-place team in the Big 12 regular-season standings. The conference boasts a Division I-leading eight teams in the tournament this season.
