The Texas Longhorns joined a handful of other Big 12 teams that experienced a drop in Monday's release of the AP Poll Top-25 rankings.

AUSTIN -- The Texas Longhorns have dropped two spots from No. 6 to No. 8 in Monday's release of the latest AP Poll Top-25 rankings.

Texas lost to the former last-place Texas Tech Red Raiders 74-67 in Lubbock on Feb. 13 before being taken to the brink by the new last-place Oklahoma Sooners in an 85-83 overtime win on Saturday.

The Longhorns remain one of the six Big 12 teams that are ranked, but only the Kansas Jayhawks, who rose two spots from No. 5 to No. 3, saw a bump to their ranking. The No. 9 Baylor Bears were the only Big 12 team to not see a shift.

The TCU Horned Frogs, Iowa State Cyclones and Kansas State Wildcats all joined Texas in experiencing a rankings drop.

Here is how the Big 12 teams stack up in the top 25:

No. 3 Kansas Jayhawks

No. 8 Texas Longhorns

No. 9 Baylor Bears

No. 14 Kansas State Wildcats

No. 23 Iowa State Cyclones

No. 24 TCU Horned Frogs

The Longhorns (21-6, 10-4) are currently tied with Kansas for first place in the conference, though, as of now, the Jayhawks hold the tie-breaker after beating Texas 88-80 on Feb. 6. The two teams will meet again in Austin on Saturday, March 4 to close out the regular season in the Big 12.

Texas hosts Iowa State on Tuesday at the Moody Center. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. CT.
