AUSTIN, Texas -- The Texas Longhorns have secured the first piece of their 2024 recruiting class.

Texas landed a commitment from 2024 Lexington (S.C.) guard Cam Scott on Friday, giving coach Rodney Terry and staff a key building block for the 2024 season. Scott, a five-star shooting guard per 247Sports' Composite rankings, picked the Longhorns over a final six that included South Carolina, Alabama, Auburn, Oregon and Ole Miss.

“I chose Texas because I felt it was the right place for me to grow the right way,” Scott said, per On3. “Allowing me to come in and make mistakes that I will learn from in a comfortable organization that I have full trust in.”

Scott, who stands at 6-5, 165 pounds, made an official visit to Austin this past November. It's possible that this visit sealed the deal in his mind, as he admitted it's always felt like home.

“I’m ready to be in Austin," Scott said. "Always felt like home and it’s time to work back to a Final Four run.”

The Longhorns will now look to build around Scott and current freshmen like guards Chris Johnson and Devon Pryor, who committed to Texas this offseason and are set to take the floor in the Moody Center this year.
