Longhorns' Dylan Disu Wins Big 12 Player of the Week
AUSTIN -- Texas Longhorns forward Dylan Disu has been playing lights out as of late and is now being recognized for his efforts.
The Big 12 announced Monday that Disu has won the conference's Player of the Week Award after performances against Iowa State and West Virginia. It's the first time this season that a Texas player has won the honor.
Disu averaged an impressive 27.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.5 steals and 1.5 blocks during Texas' last two games. Against then-No. 14 Iowa State on Tuesday, Disu nearly willed the Longhorns back from an 18-point deficit in the second half, scoring 16 straight Texas points to cut the lead to three with 2:59 to play. However, the Cyclones held on for a 70-65 win while Disu finished with a game-high 28 points and 10 rebounds.
In Saturday's 94-58 win over West Virginia, Disu scored 19 first-half points on a perfect 7 of 7 shooting before finishing with a game-high 27 points, highlighted by 7 of 10 from deep.
Dylan Disu Leads Texas to Blowout Win Over West Virginia
In 15 games this season, Disu is averaging 16.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.3 blocks while shooting 51.4 percent from the floor and 56.4 percent from 3-point range.
Texas (16-8, 5-6 Big 12) will visit No. 3 Houston (21-3, 8-3) on Saturday at 12 p.m. CT.
