Longhorns Make Top Eight for 7-Foot 2024 Star John Bol
The Texas Longhorns are in the running for one of the best players in the 2024 class, who also has some name recognition to boot.
But though 2024 Sunrise Christian (Kansas) center John Bol isn't related to the late great Manute Bol or Orlando Magic center Bol Bol, he still possesses some unreal interior talent that's led him to become a hot target on the recruiting radar for some of the nation's top program.
The Longhorns are one of the teams interested, and Bol is showing mutual feelings. He released his top eight on Friday, including Texas along with the Michigan Wolverines, Missouri Tigers, Florida Gators, Wake Forest Demon Deacons, USC Trojans, UConn Huskies or a professional opportunity with Overtime Elite.
Bol has already made official visits to Michigan and Missouri while also making an unofficial visit to Florida. He's yet to announce any plans regarding a Texas visit.
But should he make the trip to Austin, coach Rodney Terry can remind him of the multiple first-round picks that Texas has produced out of its big men over the past decade as a potential recruiting pitch.
“I’ll look for a program that actually wants me,” Bol told On3. “Not as just a big, but a school that actually sees me and sees my potential and how much I can grow in this game. I can do more than just screen and run the floor, both of which I’m really good at, but I also want to play for a coach who sees the best for me. I want to keep growing and keep getting better."
Boasting a 7-9 wingspan and oozing with potential, Bol would be a major grab for the Longhorns if they manage to heat up recruiting conversations with the 2024 star.
