Rodney Terry and the Texas Longhorns have landed the second commitment of their 2024 recruiting class.

Four-star 2024 Carrollton (DFW), Texas power forward Nic Codie announced Thursday to On3's Joe Tipton that he's committing to Texas. This gives the Longhorns their second pledge of the 2024 class, as Codie joins five-star Lexington, S.C. guard Cam Scott, who committed in August.

Per 247 Sports' rankings, the 6-9, 200-pound Codie is the No. 10 power forward in the country and No. 1 overall in the state of Texas. He was fielding offers from other elite programs like Miami, Kansas, Texas Tech, Auburn, Houston, LSU, Alabama and more.

Codie made an unofficial visit to the Forty Acres in June before making his official visit to Austin on Sept. 15. The Longhorns clearly made an impression on him.

"Every since I stepped into Texas and ever since they started recruiting me it felt like home," Codie said on On3's livestream. "The whole team, whole coaching staff showed me love. I feel like it's deeper than basketball with Texas. We just have a real good relationship, and I just love the program. They have a history of winning ... I just feel like I can bring a national championship to Texas."

The Longhorns will look to add more commitments to next year's class as the season treads on. Texas fielded just two commits in the 2023 class with Chris Johnson and Devon Pryor, but could have a bigger turnout for 2024 after gaining some key momentum with Codie's pledge on Thursday.

Texas opens up its season at home on Monday against Incarnate Word.
