Longhorns’ Max Abmas Passes Another Legend on NCAA All-Time Scoring List
AUSTIN -- Texas Longhorns guard Max Abmas is having a final college season to remember thanks to some high-level scoring and a pair of game-winners, but it's the history he continues to make that's made it even more special.
The Oral Roberts transfer has had no problem scoring during his first season in the Big 12 and keeps passing NCAA legends on the all-time career scoring list as a result. In Saturday's dominant 94-58 home win over West Virginia, Abmas finished with 19 points to put him past Hall of Fame guard Oscar Robertson (2,973 points)
This season, Abmas has passed notable names like Tyler Hansbrough, Danny Manning, JJ Redick, Elvin Hayes, and Larry Bird.
With 2,987 career points, Abmas is creeping up to the coveted 3,000-point mark. Only 11 others players in NCAA D-I history have reached that milestone.
“You get 3000 points, I mean, that's an incredible college career,” Texas coach Rodney Terry said after Saturday's win. “A special college career, but he’d trade it for a Final Four tomorrow."
If he keeps up his season-long double-digit scoring streak and depending on how many games Texas ends up playing this season, Abmas could realistically move into the top five on the all-time scoring list to close out his college career,

Along with the 19 points on 6 of 13 shooting and 5 of 12 from deep, Abmas finished with six rebounds and a season-high nine assists.
Abmas and the Longhorns (16-8, 5-6) will visit No. 5 Houston (21-3, 8-3) on Saturday at 12 p.m. CT.
