AUSTIN -- The Texas Longhorns came out of nowhere on Sunday evening with a shocking addition via the transfer portal.

Per reports Sunday from On3's Joe Tipton, the Longhorns have landed a commitment from Arkansas transfer and former Houston Cougars guard Tramon Mark. Texas added Indiana State transfer Jayson Kent earlier in the day, but have now made an arguably more-notable move by bringing on Mark.

The Longhorns didn't have any publicly reported interest in Mark, so the move should definitely catch fans by surprise. Expect Texas to stay busy in the portal over the next few weeks, as coach Rodney Terry and staff still have much of the roster to fill out.

A native of Dickinson (Houston), Texas, Mark began his career with the Houston Cougars under coach Kelvin Sampson. He played three seasons for UH, which included a trip to the Final Four his freshman season during the 2020-21 campaign.

Last season with the Razorbacks, he Mark averaged a career-best 16.2 points in 31 games to go along with 4.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists. He scored 34 points in a loss to North Carolina in non-conference play before topping that with 35 points in an upset win over Texas A&M in January.

Instead of staying in Fayetteville to play under new head coach John Calipari, Mark is now headed back to his home state where he'll likely be a starter for Terry alongside incoming five-star freshman Tre Johnson.
