Despite focusing on their upcoming NFL journey, Xavier Worthy and Jonathon Brooks both took to social media last month to bring awareness to a controversy that allegedly involved a recruit that Texas was considering.

Brooks and Worthy both took to X (formerly Twitter) to bring to light the story of Lake Travis' Carter Mannon, who had peanuts placed in his locker as a prank this past season despite having a serious allergy. While the recruit in question, defensive lineman Gus Cordova, was never directly named, he was rumored to be the alleged culprit of the life-threatening prank.

Something that led to Texas reportedly backing off from recruiting him, which based on a recent report about Cordova, may no longer be the case.

According to a Saturday report by OnTexasFootball's CJ Vogel, Cordova is expected to take an unofficial visit to Texas on April 20 which is the date of the spring game. Obviously, anyone can take an unofficial visit if they choose, but as stated by Vogel which goes against what was initially reported back in February, the Longhorns are still actively recruiting Cordova.

"Cordova has continued to be recruited by the Longhorns since his visit for the junior day in January and told me in February that the staff has continued to be actively pursuing him," wrote Vogel in his Saturday report.

In February, Orangebloods' Anwar Richardson reported that the Longhorns were no longer pursuing Cordova.

"I was told by multiple sources that Texas is no longer recruiting Lake Travis defensive lineman Gus Cordova. Steve Sarkisian and his staff were unaware of the allegations surrounding Cordova before offering him a scholarship," Richardson tweeted on February 21. "Since being made aware, Texas has backed off."

Richardson also revealed that when he asked about Cordova's spring game visit, he was told “It’s open to the public.”
