More expertise will be flooding into the reigning national championship Texas volleyball coaching staff this upcoming season. Cursty Le Roux will effectively be joining burnt orange nation as the third full-time assistant coach starting on July 1, but how will Le Roux's experience be of aid to an already established powerhouse Texas roster?

“We are beyond excited to add Cursty to our coaching staff,” Texas volleyball head coach Jerritt Elliott said. “She brings a wealth of experience at the collegiate and international level. She cares about empowering young women and has a large presence because of the values she believes in for herself and her family.”

Before officially signing with the Longhorns, Le Roux spent her time at Long Beach State where she spent the 2022 season as an assistant coach. The Beach had a an overall 19-9 and ended the season in third place in the Big West standings with Le Roux on the coaching staff.

Le Roux has a NIVC Championship title under her belt. Before her time at Long Beach, she served as an assistant coach at UNLV where she helped the Rebels claim the championship trophy with a 28-9 overall record.

Most recently, however, Le Roux went undefeated as an assistant coach for the U19 Girls National Team at the 2023 U19 NORCECA Pan American Cup and the team ended victorious with the Pan American Cup raised above their heads.

Looking forward, however, Le Roux is most excited to learn from Elliott and the rest of the Texas volleyball coaching staff and to form a relationship with the Longhorn student-athletes.

“It’s such an honor to join a program with a deep history of excellence,” Le Roux said. “Several of my favorite former teammates played at Texas and embody high character and special grit. I am excited to learn from the best and mentor and guide these young women on and off the court. It’s a dream come true to be a part of the defending National Championship family and have support like no other from the best fans in the nation.”
