Former director and coach of Madsand Beach Volleyball program in Texas, Will Buchanan, was added to the Texas Beach Volleyball coaching staff on Friday, head coach Stein Metzger announced. As the Longhorns continue to look towards building an exceptional coaching foundation for their newly induced sport, Metzger knew that Buchanan's drive and dedication to not only the sport but to his players' triumphs, was unmatched.

“I’m delighted to welcome Will to Texas Beach Volleyball, rounding out our coaching staff,” Metzger said. “He has an impressive resume at the club level and has mastered the junior’s volleyball landscape in Texas. Over the last five years, I have come to recognize his passion for the sport and varied talents as a coach and a director."

"More importantly, I know he truly cares about his athletes and works tirelessly to help them succeed. Coach Buchanan and his many skillsets will be a tremendous asset for the Sandy Horns. We are fortunate to bring him aboard.”

Buchanan founded the Madsand Beach Volleyball organization in 2017 and served as director and coach since its opening. Through the program, he helped develop a countless number of his students to compete at the Division 1 level.

He also made history while at Madsand. With Buchanan's guidance, the Madsand Beach Volleyball program was the first Texas organization in history to win the Best Beach Club Award twice at the BVCA National Championship.

Prior to signing with the Longhorns, this past year, Buchanan used his knowledge of tactical guidance to serve as a coach for USA Volleyball’s Beach National Team Development Program (NTDP) in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
