Outside of perhaps Arch Manning, there may not have been a bigger signing for the Texas Longhorns in the 2023 class than linebacker Anthony Hill.

Not only did the Horns steal him from their in-state rival Texas A&M Aggies, but Hill came in at a position of great need with the departure of former star, DeMarvion Overshown.

And according to his defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski, the early returns on Hill have been quite impressive.

“He just has a knack for finding the ball," Kwiatkowski said in fall camp. "He’s got some good players in front of him, so he’s going to be able to learn, not be thrown into the heat of things."

So how will the Longhorns utilize Hill this season?

That has yet to be determined. However, based on his skill set and what Kwiatkowski believes he can do, he could fill a similar multifaceted role to that of Overshown in terms of getting after the quarterback.

"He’s going to be able to learn piecemeal, then for us as coach it’s finding that role for him," Kwiatkowski said. Maybe it’s on third down, passing situations where we can get him involved coming off the edge or blitzing, playing to his skillset.”

And if Hill can do that to even a fraction of the level that Overshown did last year, he could find himself in the starting lineup sooner rather than later.
