The cause of death has yet to be released by authorities. Hullaby was last seen in Dallas on Friday heading westbound on I-30 at 6:23 pm.

Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian, who briefly coached Hullaby during his time in Austin, released a statement on his passing on Monday afternoon.

“It’s such devastating and tragic news to hear of Jaden’s passing," Sarkisian said. "He was a great person and someone we all enjoyed being around, coaching and spending time with. All of our thoughts are with his family, friends and teammates, and we want to send our deepest condolences to them in such a difficult time.”

After spending the first two years of his Texas career on the defensive side of the ball, Hullaby did extensive work at the running back spot before entering the portal.

Hullaby came to the Longhorns as a running back out of Mansfield Timberview High School as part of the 2020 class, picking the Longhorns over Arkansas, Baylor, Florida, LSU, Michigan State, TCU, and many other offers.

After his time in Texas, Hullaby transferred to New Mexico, where he was eventually moved to tight end. In his time with the Lobos, Hullaby has two catches for 44 yards, including a 38-yard catch against LSU in Baton Rouge.
