Longhorns P Mac Morgan Represents Texas on 'The D100' List
Only one Texas Longhorns softball student athlete was named to the Division 1 Softball's “The D100” list following the 2023 season, and that honor went to sophomore right-handed pitcher Mac Morgan, securing the No. 91 spot.
But what made Morgan stand out this past season?
“The D100” is a list compiled of the best 100 collegiate softball student-athletes of the 2023 season," according to D1Softball. The publication looked towards “offensive statistics, defensive impact, value to their team, advanced metrics and a splash of postseason success,” to compile the list.
Before wearing burnt orange this year, Morgan was a transfer from Arizona State. Following the conclusion of her first season at Texas, she grasped 18 wins for the Longhorns. Morgan had a total of five shutout games in a total of 145.2 innings and 37 appearances on the mound.
The Creighton, Mo. native earned the Big 12 Conference Pitcher of the Week title twice this past year (April 18, April 25). Morgan was a productive pitcher for the Longhorns during her 2023 campaign, which landed her a slot on the All-Big 12 Conference Second Team and the NFCA All-Central Region First Team.
One of the most outstanding performances Morgan pitched for the Longhorns this past season was Texas' win over then-No. 3 Oklahoma State. The Longhorns pulled off a 1-0 win after Morgan delivered an eight-inning shutout.
Morgan will be back on the Forty Acres next season to do more damage for the Longhorns on the pitching mound.
