AUSTIN -- The Texas Longhorns' offense will look vastly different next season due to the NFL departures of Adonai Mitchell, Xavier Worthy, Ja'Tavion Sanders, Jordan Whittington and others.

But early this offseason, Texas players have talked about "reloading the clip," and the Longhorns did just that through the transfer portal by adding receivers Isaiah Bond and Matthew Golden, two guys that the 'Horns played and beat last season en route to the the College Football Playoff.

All the new additions are still getting used to Steve Sarkisian's offense and life on the Forty Acres, but Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers loves what he's seen from his potential WR1 and WR2 early on in spring ball.

"I think Isaiah comes from a similar offense, so it's kind of been an easy transition for him," Ewers said. "Obviously y'all know he's a very explosive player so he's able to get the ball and who knows what's gonna happen with it.

"Kinda the same with Golden. He's awesome in the return game, smooth routes, got really soft hands. So I'm excited for both those guys."

Along with Bond and Golden, the Longhorns have also added Oregon State transfer receiver Silas Bolden and Alabama transfer tight end Amari Niblack. Ewers understands things will be different on offense in 2024, but he's ready to embrace a new leadership role.

"A lot of new faces in that room," Ewers said. "It made my job a whole lot easier having J Whitt and Xavier in that room to help those younger guys, but now we don't really have an old head like J Whitt in that room to help those guys figure it out. But it's good for me because I get to learn more about how to help those guys and just trying to get more comfortable being in that position."

Texas fans will get their first chance to see the new-look squad in action when the Orange-White Spring Game kicks off in Austin on Saturday, April 20.
