'It's Cool To Watch!' Longhorns QB Quinn Ewers Lauds Deep WR Room
Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers is entering a situation in 2023 that most college football quarterbacks could only dream of.
Not only will he be protected by arguably the best offensive line in the Big 12 by some distance, as well as the best tight end in the conference, but he might just have the most talented wide receiver room in the entire country.
And through the first stretch of fall camp, he has been extremely impressed with what he has seen from that group.
"That group of guys, it's just it's cool to watch how they compete against each other and how they've grown," Ewers said. "Obviously, for those younger guys like (Ryan) Niblett and Johntay (Cook) their wheels are spinning a little bit but I think they're taking it in full stride."
Of course, having young talent like Cook and Niblett, who look ready to contribute early is a great start.
But at the top of the rotation, the combination of Xavier Worthy, Jordan Whittington and A.D. Mitchell is an absolute matchup nightmare for opposing defenses and is just about as good as it gets.
And that is not even bringing into consideration the talents of Casey Cain, DeAndre Moore, and tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders.
Not only that, but the Longhorns are getting back a player in Isaiah Neyor, who despite missing all of 2022 with a torn ACL, could be a game-changer all on his own.
"Neyor is back, which is awesome," Ewers said. "To have to have a guy like him to just go up and grab the ball, you know, whenever. I mean, they're just, they're molded together and it's cool. It's cool to watch."
The Longhorns will get their first chance to boast their depth in the pass-catching department against Rice on September 2.
