FINAL: Texas Longhorns Dominates Texas Tech 57-7 in Big-12 Farewell
In their final regular season game as a member of the Big 12, the No. 7 Texas Longhorns have an opportunity to punch their ticket to Dallas and the conference title game with a win over the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
While the Longhorns' hopes of playing for the Big 12 conference championship wouldn't be completely lost if the Red Raiders managed to pull an upset, Texas wouldn't be in control of their destiny.
Controlling their destiny has been the goal of the Longhorns since losing to the Oklahoma Sooners in the Red River Rivalry game. Following the heartbreaking loss to Oklahoma, which ended a potentially perfect season for the Longhorns, Texas has bounced back with a five-game winning streak that has them a win away from returning to the conference title game for the first time since 2018.
With a 10-1 record, this has been the best season for Texas since 2009, when then-quarterback Colt McCoy led the Longhorns to the ill-fated national championship game against the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Yet, as McCoy and the Longhorns learned a season prior, Texas cannot look ahead of themselves against the Red Raiders. If not for the game-winning Michael Crabtree touchdown catch, which saw Texas Tech pull a late-season upset over the Longhorns, Texas would've likely played for a national championship in the 2008 season.

However, the current-day Longhorns do have some things working in their favor, like being at home inside Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, along with the fact that they have been tested in recent weeks.
Texas was pushed to the limit on the road by the Houston Cougars after surrendering a 14-point first-half lead before needing overtime to beat Kansas State and having a fourth-quarter scare against TCU.
