Deebo 2.0? Texas Longhorns WR Savion Red Changing Positions?

Versatile Texas Longhorns playmaker Savion Red is reportedly testing the waters of a new position this spring

The Texas Longhorns offense is loaded heading into the 2023 season.

However, there is still some significant talent to replace in departing running backs Bijan Robinson, and Roschon Johnson.

And while current backs Jonathan Brooks, Jaydon Blue and Keilan Robinson have shown flashes of brilliance, and the incoming talent of Cedric Baxter is a big win on the recruiting trail, the room will not be without its question marks.

In their attempt to fill that void, the Longhorns are reportedly moving versatile wide receiver Savion Red to running back for spring practice.

Last season, Red caught six passes for 34 yards in nine games.

But despite that modest production, Red's talent is undeniable.

So much so, that wide receiver Jordan Whittington compared him to NFL superstar, Deebo Samuel.

"His athletic ability, being a good teammate and picking up on the offense and understanding football really well," Sanders said in August. "He's showing it in practice, making plays. He's definitely a playmaker. We all call him Deebo Samuel, that's what he looks like to me."

Samuel, of course, plays all over the field for the San Francisco 49ers - including at running back.

Red will get a chance to do the same and show that kind of versatility this spring.
