Wyoming Cowboys vs. Texas Longhorns Game Predictions
For the first time since 2012, the Wyoming Cowboys will match up against the Texas Longhorns in Austin at DKR on Saturday. The Longhorns are still on a high after silencing Alabama's 21-home-game winning streak, but that makes Texas' third game of the season that much more anticipated.
Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers towers over Cowboy Andrew Peasley stats-wise, so the Longhorns should be locked and loaded for the quarterback battle in this Saturday. However, defenses can make or break a ball game.
Here are the Longhorns Country staff's predictions for the Wyoming versus Texas matchup on Saturday at 7 p.m. central time in Austin.

Texas is coming off arguably the biggest regular season win in school history. Can they handle the prosperity? With the way Quinn Ewers stepped up and called a players-only meeting this week, I think so. Not only does Texas win, but they win big.
And maybe Arch Manning sees his first action as a Longhorn.

The Longhorns’ talent will overwhelm Wyoming in Week 3 of the upcoming season. Peasley's passing game is just not up to par with Ewers'. With nine interceptions last season for Peasley and already one under his belt with only two games into the season, the Cowboys will be relying on their run game against Texas, and the Longhorns know this, which will make Wyoming's offense more predictable. Texas should easily be able to come out on top in Week 3, more so if the defense can hold the Cowboys to their low rate of third-down conversions, around 34 percent.

Texas leads the all-time series 5-0 with a 23.8-point average margin of victory against Wyoming. Coming off a 7-6 season and an overtime loss to Ohio in the Barstool Sports Arizona Bowl, the Cowboys will need a severe resurgence at the quarterback position from Andrew Peasley, who completed 52.4 percent of his passing attempts for 1,574 yards and 10 touchdowns to nine interceptions. There will likely be a pregame reunion between Southlake Carroll High School teammates in quarterbacks Texas' Quinn Ewers and Wyoming's Kaden Anderson, who will likely miss the 2023 season after tearing his ACL during his senior year. However, Ewers will show his successor who's boss, as the Cowboys' abysmal offense holds them back and they move to 1-10 against Power Five opponents since 2014.

Last season, the Cowboys ranked just outside the top 50 in pass defense, but they did allow opponents to convert roughly 39 percent on third down. This is a game where Sarkisian should be looking to exploit the No. 73-ranked run defense while also finding the next feature back in Austin. Once in the red zone, just ask Ewers to target Ja’Tavion Sanders. Wash, rinse, and repeat all four quarters.
Texas 34, Wyoming 10
