Texas Longhorns Predicted to Land Four-Star Edge Zina Umeozulu
There is a high probability that four-star edge Zina Umeozulu may be joining his brother, Neto Umeozulu, on the football field on the Forty Acres.
The Texas Longhorns have risen to the top of Umeozulu's list and is the likely favorite for the Allen, TX product.
On3's recruiting prediction machine projects the Longhorns with an 86.3 percent probability of landing the recruit. Rivals.com also favored the Longhorns to land Umeozulu on Friday.
Umeozulu is part of the 2024 recruiting class and, according to 247Sports, is the No. 17 edge in the country. Following the 2022 season, the edge recorded 43 tackles, five tackles for loss, three sacks, and three fumble recoveries.
The 6-foot-4.5, 225-pounder took an official visit to the Forty Acres in late June, and the visit seemed to have worked in Texas' favor.
“All the intel received following the conclusion of the official visit process for Umeozulu was that Texas only increased the lead,” InsideTexas.com recruiting analyst Gerry Hamilton wrote in making his prediction. “Not only does Zina Umeozulu have an up-close understanding and feel for the program with his brother in Austin, but the Longhorn defensive staff showed the DFW area EDGE prospect exactly how he would fit into the scheme and how he will be developed."
Following his visit, Texas recorded its 86.3 percent chance of landing Umeozulu's recruitment.
There is still some time for the Longhorns to officially seal the deal on Umeozulu, but it looks like Texas is set up favorably to add another powerhouse to their roster.
