Which Top 2026 Recruits Should Be Biggest Texas Longhorns Targets?

As spring football is in full spring, plenty of 2026 recruits will attend spring practices to visit with the coaching staff and get a feel for what a potential practice day could be should they choose to enroll in Austin.
As official visits are scheduled, which should be the top prospects for Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns to go after? Longhorns On SI takes a look:
1. KJ Edwards (Carthage High School, TX)
As the number two running back in the country, Edwards would be a tremendous agile back for the Texas backfield in the future. Possessing great ball-carrier vision and an elite ability to burst through the hole, he would excel in the zone-style scheme Sarkisian has manufactured for his offenses. Other in-state programs have also been in Edwards, such as Baylor, SMU, and Texas A&M. Unlocking his pass-catching abilities would take Edwards from an elite-level runner to a threat at all levels of the backfield.
2. Felix Ojo (Lake Ridge High School, TX)
Another recruit nearly right in the Longhorns' backyard, Ojo has risen the ranks quickly, mainly due to his size and ability to show a mean streak at camps. At a massive 6'6 frame and a late birthday for his year, Ojo will fill his frame out even more while maintaining the athleticism and bendability he has already shown colleges. While still struggling to land punches at the point of contact, he can drive and finish his blocks with the best of them. Competing against their rival Oklahoma for his commitment, Ojo shows flashes of Kelvin Banks that could anchor the Texas O-line of the future.
3. Dylan Berymon (Ouachita Parish High School, LA)
Texas has had success in recent years due to its commitment to dominating games in the trenches, and Berymon perfectly coincides with that plan. At 6'1", 305, Berymon comps into ex-longhorn Byron Murphy II with his ability to clog the middle of the field while maintaining a quick-to-get horizontal. Pairing leverage and quickness off the ball, he strikes his opponents violently and with intent. Other in-state programs such as A&M and Texas Tech are recruiting Berymon, but D-line coach Kenny Baker could elevate him into an early-round NFL talent player.
