Mr. CFB: SEC Pick Six. Week 12
Your humble prognosticator had his best week of the season at 5-1 against the spread. But if I had half a brain it would have been 6-0. But I took Ole Miss and the 11 points. Georgia, of course, played its best game of the season, winning 52-17.
But the good news is that after digging a huge hole for myself earlier this season, we are within one game of .500 at 32-33-1. with three Saturdays to play.
Let's see if we can keep it going as we head down the stretch.
The SEC is having its infamous "Cupcake Saturday" so I'll pick three SEC games an three others you'll find interesting.
Louisville (9-1) at Miami 6-4) (Pick'em) : This is a monster game for No. 10 Louisville. If the Cardinals win they clinch a spot in the ACC championship game against No. 4 Florida State (10-0). If they lose they get thrown into a multi-team tie for second place. It would be Louisville's first trip ever to the ACC championship game. I'm taking the Cardinals,
Georgia (10-0) at Tennessee (7-3) (getting 10.5). Tennessee got embarrassed last week against Missouri (36-7). Now they host a Geogia team that is getting healthy and has already clinched a spot in the SEC championship game. A letdown here would not be good for the Bulldogs and their goal of winning a third straight national championship. Neyland Stadium will be rocking to play spoiler but it won't be enough. Georgia wins and covers the 10.5
Florida (5-5) at Missouri (8-2) (giving 11.5) You had to be impressed with what Missouri did to Tennessee last week. The Tigers, whose only loss are to LSU and Georgia, are playing really well. They are headed to a New Year's Six bowl if they beat Florida this Saturday and Arkansas next Saturday. Florida really needs a win to lock up a bowl bid because they get No. 4 Florida State on Nov. 25. If this game was in the Swamp I would take the Gators. But Mizzou is at home. I'll pick Missouri and give the 11.
Washington (10-0) at Oregon State (8-2) ( giving 2.5) Washington is undefeated and ranked No. 5 but No. 13 Oregon State is a slight favorite playing at home. This is a critical game for Washington and quarterback Michael Penix, Jr., who want to keep their hopes alive for a playoff bid. Corvallis is a tough place to play but I like Penix and the Huskies getting 2.5.
Kentucky (6-4 at South Carolina (4-6) (giving 1.5) Neither of these teams has had the season they envisioned. Kentucky thought it would challenge Georgia in the SEC East, but the Wildcats arrive in Columbia after a 48-21 loss to Alabama. South Carolina and quarterback Spencer Rattler have been a major disappointent. South Carolina can still make it to a bowl by beating Kentucky this week and Clemson next week in Columbia. I will take the Gamecocks playing at home and giving the 1.5.
Arizona (7-3) getting 2.5 at Utah (7-3): Arizona has won four straight since losing to USC 43-41 back on Oct. 7.. Utah really had a tough loss at Washington (35-28) last week. The Utes have one of the best defenses in the country and they are playing at home. I'll take Utah and give the 2.5
