UCLA Baseball: Experts Consider Incoming Bruins Recruits Best In College
Your UCLA Bruins baseball team's incoming 2024 recruiting class is apparently not merely one of the best squads in the collegiate landscape, but the best -- at least, according to Baseball America, as UCLABruins.com reports.
Perfect Game also honored UCLA as the nation's No. 1 post-draft class, while Collegiate Baseball has the new recruit as the No. 2 class in the country.
"This class is clearly an impact group that has major attributes which will help build our program for years to come," head coach John Savage told UCLABruins.com last year. "You seldom see this many high-level players in one class, so we feel fortunate to be able to put this group together. Coach Ward, Coach Gallego, and our entire staff have done a terrific job of putting this class together. We have always built our program around the high school player, and we will do so again with this class."
As UCLABruins.com notes, Savage has fielded a top-10-ranked recruiting class across 12 of his first 18 seasons (and counting!) leading the program.
6'2", 193-pound shortstop Roch Cholowsky (ranked at No. 42 overall among his matriculating class), fresh out of Hamilton High School in Chandler, Arizona, leads the group. He's joined by second baseman/shortstop Grant Gray (ranked at No. 70), pitcher Justin Lee (No. 145), middle infielder Phoenix Call (No. 253), shortstop/third baseman Cameron Kim (No. 280), outfielder Dean West out of Woodland Hills (No. 335), and pitcher Luke Rodriguez (458).
