2022 cornerback Jahlil Florence takes UCLA visit Thursday

Another day, another speedy defensive back at Wasserman Football Center.

Class of 2022 cornerback Jahlil Florence visited UCLA football Thursday, one day after 2023 cornerback Rodrick Pleasant came to campus. While Pleasant left Westwood with an offer Wednesday, Florence does not appear to have gotten one immediately following his visit.

Florence named his three finalists July 4 – Michigan, Oregon and Washington – but publicly informed the media and other coaching staffs a few days later that he was still very much considering all options.

Florence is a three-sport athlete, playing football, basketball and track, and is regarded as a solid student as well. At 6-foot-1, he brings good size to the table considering his speed – he won his high school league's 100-meter dash with a 10.70-second finishing time.

Entering his senior season at Lincoln High School (CA) in San Diego, Florence has been building momentum on the recruiting trail. 247Sports has him rated as a four-star prospect, but Florence's three-star 247Sports Composite Rating demonstrates the lag caused by other outlets being late to the party – Rivals did not even have him ranked until June 10.

UCLA does not have any cornerbacks committed for 2022, so hauling in Florence would be a much-needed addition.

The Bruins weren't the only California program Florence connected with on Thursday, however.

California offered Florence a scholarship Thursday afternoon, jumping the gun before UCLA was able to. Utah and Jackson State also reportedly extended Florence offers Thursday.

Florence now has 19 Division I offers, with the vast majority coming from West Coast schools and others coming from Michigan, Syracuse and Columbia.

Getting an Ivy League offer is no small feat, which means Florence's academic reputation likely has solid legs to stand on. Just looking at the schools interested, a good number of them are top-tier institutions.

The brainy, quick corner has yet to set a date for his impending commitment.
