Class of 2025 Running Back Jordon Davison Adds UCLA Football Offer
The Bruins may not be early entrants, but they have officially joined the race for one of the top ball-carriers in the country.
Class of 2025 running back Jordon Davison has earned an offer from UCLA football, he announced Monday on Twitter. The 6-foot, 205-pound prospect out of local powerhouse Mater Dei (CA) has now earned 47 offers.
Davison's other offers are from Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, Auburn, Baylor, Cal, Colorado, Colorado State, Florida A&M, Florida Atlantic, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Houston, Jackson State, Louisville, Maryland, Miami (FL), Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Nevada, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Oregon State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Sacramento State, South Carolina, Stanford, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, UCF, UNLV, USC, Utah, Utah State, Washington, Western Kentucky and Wisconsin.
Davison has been reeling in offers since he was in middle school, meaning other programs have already been building their relationships with the premier back for years.
After making the rounds to nearly a dozen schools last spring and summer, Davison took gameday visits to Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon and Georgia in the fall. The Walnut Creek, California, native visited Texas and Colorado in January, and he has already been to LSU and Oregon in the months since.
Davison took an unofficial visit to UCLA last year, and he told 247Sports that he plans to take another this spring.
Across 13 games at Mater Dei in 2022, Davison racked up 1,514 yards and 17 touchdowns on 170 carries, in addition to 71 yards on 12 receptions. Despite sharing the backfield with the No. 8 running back in the class of 2024, Nate Frazier, Davison still got the lion's share of the touches and made MaxPreps' Sophomore All-American First Team.
Davison – who is committed to the 2025 All-American Bowl – was running back MVP at Rivals Camp LA on March 12. He also starred at the Under Armour Next Camp in Los Angeles on April 2.
Davison is a four-star recruit, according to 247Sports, Rivals and On3, but the 247Sports Composite has him pegged as a five-star. In the 247Sports Composite, Davison is ranked as the No. 3 player in California, the No. 1 running back in the country and the No. 20 overall prospect in his class.
Both Rivals and the 247Sports Composite have Davison rated as the top running back in the nation for 2025.
Davison is just the sixth player in his class to earn an offer from the Bruins, and the first who doesn't play either quarterback or linebacker.
UCLA has consistently churned out pro-level running backs under coach Chip Kelly and running backs coach DeShaun Foster. Former UC Davis transfer Joshua Kelley went in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, former wide receiver Demetric Felton went in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft and former Duke transfer Brittain Brown went in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
Zach Charbonnet will probably go higher than any of them, with the former Michigan transfer projected to hear his name called in either the second or third round of the 2023 NFL Draft on Friday.
The Bruins recently brought in Ball State transfer Carson Steele and Army transfer Anthony Adkins to help replace Charbonnet, but both of them will have exhausted their eligibility by the time 2025 rolls around. The same goes for veterans Keegan Jones, Colson Yankoff and Brian Kowall.
TJ Harden will be a senior in 2025, while Deshun Murrell will be a redshirt senior and three-star class of 2023 signee Isaiah Carlson will be a junior. Based on Harden's performance at the end of his freshman year, though, he is a candidate to leave for the NFL after the 2024 season.
That would leave UCLA's backfield largely vacant come 2025, setting up a new arrival to take the reins and become the next future NFL running back to call Westwood home. The Bruins may have to compete with too many national powerhouses to get Davison into that spot, but having Foster and being close to home could work in their favor as his recruitment progresses.
