UCLA Football: Coach Modest About Bruins' Offense, Despite Frequent 1-Play Drives

The club has gone 3-1 with some flashy plays.

Although your UCLA Bruins may have lost a slugfest yesterday against the Arizona State University Aztecs, 14-7, the team has to be happy with its start under 18-year-old true freshman Dante Moore, who has helped lead the club to a 3-1 record thus far this season (he didn't start in a 27-13 Week 1 win over the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers, but he did contribute two touchdowns to the mix).

The club has been able to snag victories with big plays, too, not just grind-it-out possessions.

Following back-to-back weeks where the team converted one-play touchdown drives, Kelly reflected on UCLA's aptitude for embracing high-pressure moments, as Tracy Pierson of Bruin Report Online relays.

To wit, during the team's 35-10 Week 2 win over the San Diego State Aztecs, redshirt senior wide receiver Josiah Norwood ran in an 81-yard touchdown to help kick off a triumvirate of consecutive UCLA scoring drives.

"It's just guys making plays," an enthused Kelly said following the Week 2 victory. "Really happy, we thought if we could get one coverage we'd have a shot and Josiah can run. Dante I thought made a good read off what they did and we took advantage of it."
