UCLA Football: Consensus All-American Enjoys Another Prolific Scoring Binge With NFL Team
Houston Texans placekicker Kaʻimi Fairbairn remains one of the best-scoring players at his position in the NFL, as he proved once again this weekend, though it didn't help his team avoid slipping below a .500 record (2-3).
Fairbarn, who was the NFL's scoring leader in 2018, accounted for a whopping 13 of his teams' 19 points in a close 21-19 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. He went 4-for-4 on his field goal tries (from distances of 28, 32, 42, and 43 yards), and converted one point after a touchdown.
The 29-year-old has been with Houston since a stellar run with your UCLA Bruins. From 2012-15, the six-foot, 183-pound vet was a consensus All-American selection and an All-Pac-12 Second-Teamer in 2015. He also earned the Lou Groza Award during his senior season, given to the best kicker in the college game.
This year, he has converted 15-of-16 field goal tries (93.8%), including two within the range of 40-49 feet. His average field goal distance this season is 38 yards thus far. Fairbarn has accrued 55 points through his first five contests of the season.
