UCLA Football: HC Chip Kelly Pleased With Bruins' Defensive Composure Vs SDSU
The one major question mark heading into the 2023 season for the Bruins was their defense. Can their defense hold the other end of the stick along with their explosive offense? Well, through two weeks of the season, the answer is yes.
The UCLA defense showed up and showed out on the road, holding the Aztecs to 10 points and coming up big multiple times, including in the third quarter of last night's game.
UCLA QB Dante Moore had one mishap where he had the ball stripped, which ended up being a turnover on their side of the field. However, the UCLA defense didn't panic; they went out there and got a turnover themselves, thanks to a Daruis Muasau interception.
UCLA head coach Chip Kelly loved what he witnessed from his team on that side of the ball and talked about that essential play in the third quarter.
“They went on the field with the ball on the half-yard line and we came back with the ball,” Kelly said, “so really happy and pleased with how those guys are growing on a weekly basis.”

The defense played with their hair on fire, holding SDSU to 10 points, 259 total yards, and three turnovers. Moore had more air yards than SDSU had total yards.
The Bruins didn't allow the Aztecs a single point in the second half. It was a pleasure to witness, and hopefully, we see more of the same from UCLA in the coming weeks, starting with North Carolina Central next week.
