UCLA Football: How Deion Sanders Made This Week’s Opponent Colorado The Talk Of College Football

Deion has taken the college football world by storm.

The upstart Colorado Buffalos are heading to town to take on your UCLA Bruins this weekend, and the star of the show isn’t the team from Southern California. It’s the Buffalos, led by head coach Deion Sanders, despite the team possessing a worse record (4-3) than UCLA (5-2).

It seems that everyone wants to tune in to what the Buffalos are doing, and the Bruins will need to be ready. Colorado is one of the biggest shows in the sport, and the club will be well-rested coming off its bye week in this matchup.

Colorado would love nothing more than to hand UCLA another loss. The Buffs already own the media narratives, and Sanders gets his chance to take on an established coach like Chip Kelly.

When the Buffalos kick off their game against the Bruins this weekend, it will mark a historic feat in Colorado history. It will be the fifth appearance on national TV this season for the team, surpassing the previous record for broadcasts at that level in program history.

“Deion Sanders’ Buffs (4-3, 1-3 Pac-12) come off their midseason bye next Saturday with a visit to No. 25 UCLA on ABC, the program’s fifth appearance on a national television broadcast this season. That’s already the most national TV appearances for one autumn in CU history, passing four in 1990 — the last time the Gold and Black won a national title.”

Champion Denver Nuggets center DeAndre Jordan gave his thoughts on what Colorado has done since Sanders took over.

“I mean, the energy (at Folsom) is electric, man,” Jordan continued. “So you want to be able to witness that in person, not just on TV. And just to be able to support whomever, especially in the state that you’re playing in, that’s big for the community.”

This is the kind of pull that Sanders has brought to Colorado, and this is with a first-year squad. Imagine what he could do once he firmly gets his fingerprints all over the program.

The Buffalos have become the talk of the town, and even in college football to some extent. While they won’t win anything major for this season, they are just getting started, and building for the future.
