Although he didn't start the game, 18-year-old freshman UCLA Bruins quarterback Dante Moore was the talk of the town following a 27-13 victory over Coastal Carolina Saturday.

Moore went 7-of-12 in passing and covered 143 yards while helping complete two touchdowns (against one interception), including an epic 62-yard TD pass to another new UCLA arrival, ex-UC Berkley stud J. Michael Sturdivant.

The Bruins' starting play caller, junior Ethan Garbers, was an afterthought on Saturday. He passed for 121 yards and 10-of-17 completions, logging one touchdown against two picks.

But Garbers after the game insisted all was well between him and Moore, per Haley Sawyer of The Los Angeles Daily News

“Me and Dante talked after the game and at the end of the day, we both want to see each other succeed,” Garbers said. “That’s all it is. What matters first is the team and winning games. Whatever happens happens and those are the two priorities.”

“I’m a little dissatisfied in my performance, Garbers continued. "You try to get the ball to amazing guys and it doesn’t go your way. It was one of those nights.”

Even if he doesn't take over starting duties right away, Moore, a 6'3", five-star recruit out of Martin Luther King Senior High School in Detroit, seems primed for some kind of consistent role with the program moving forward this season.
