UCLA Football: NFC West Team Nabs Laiatu Latu Toward End of First Round in Fresh Mock Draft

The UCLA Bruins' defense in 2023 was one of the best across the nation. They improved in multiple categories and were led by star pass rusher Laiatu Latu. Latu put together a special season with the Bruins, posting 13 sacks over 12 games played.

His strong production has earned him the praise of many across the NFL and he is projected to be taken somewhere in the first round of the upcoming NFL draft. Latu has been seen as going anywhere from the top-10 to the back end of the first round.

He possesses a unique ability to get off the line very quickly, which allows him to create havoc in the backfield. Latu's game should translate well to the NFL and his name has been making waves throughout for perspective teams.

In a new mock draft from CBS, writer Bryan DeArdo has the Arizona Cardinals selecting Latu with pick No. 27 toward the back end of the first round. Latu would instantly help bolster the Cardinals' defensive front, giving them a special player to use.

"Arizona also needs offensive line help, but it would almost be impossible for the Cardinals to pass up the chance to draft Latu, who had 23.5 sacks, 34 tackles for loss and five forced fumbles during his two seasons at UCLA," DeArdo writes.

Latu has been mocked to the Cardinals a few different times this draft season and he would be a solid fit in Arizona. They have a need to upgrade their defense all around, so this could be a good start for them.

He created countless memories for the Bruins faithful during his two seasons with the program and now will be looking to continue his success at the next level.
