UCLA Football Recruiting: How 2024 Cornerback Commit Jamir Benjamin Is Developing
Jamir Benjamin plays for West Bloomfield High School in West Bloomfield, Michigan. He turned into, on the 31st of July, the second of what is now two cornerbacks committed to UCLA in the class of 2024.
On3 lists him as the 12th best player in his class out of Michigan, and the 73rd best cornerback in the country. All the other major recruiting networks have him at higher marks, and for good reason.
Evaluation
Benjamin lists himself at 5'11", 175 pounds, but several of the recruiting databases I checked had him an inch shorter. He’s fast, but also twitchy. He’s not afraid of a lot of contact either, and in a world where so many corners opt for arm tackles and going low, he Benjamin chooses violence. His physicality was the main difference, to me, between his sophomore and junior film.
In terms of where he’s at these days, I’ve got good news for Bruins fans. Based on the relatively little film he has available on Hudl of his senior season, Benjamin looks like he’s gotten even more polished. The way he plays in the defense looks like his coaches give him a ton of freedom, along with a ton of responsibility. Simply put, he's a solid, hard-nosed football player who just so happened to be super agile, and rose to meet all of the challenges the cornerback position presents.
With athleticism, polish, and instincts, Jamir Benjamin is the complete package.
The UCLA recruiting class of 2024 currently has 12 total commits including 3 other defensive players, four offensive tackles, a running back, an athlete, a tight end and a wide receiver. AllBruins.com will be watching all of their available senior season film as we progress towards the 2024 early signing day, in order to give Bruins fans the most up-to-date evaluation of their future stars.
