Your UCLA Bruins' defense has been their calling card all season long. It has helped them win games and has been a joy to watch.

It has become the identity of this football team and has allowed them to really push their own limits. While the year didn't go the way the team would have hoped, they can take solace in the fact that the defense was stellar.

Bruins defensive coordinator D'Anton Lynn has been named a semifinalist for the Broyles Award. The honor goes to college football's top assistant coach for the year.

Lynn has done an incredible job turning this Bruins defense around. It has become a strength of this program, something that they had been lacking in recent years.

They make life tough on the opposing teams each game, and UCLA has a bend but don't-break mentality to itself that has helped them this season. Lynn has instilled confidence into this team across the year, and it could end up leading him to land a head coaching job down the line.

Lynn came over from the NFL, so he could end up going right back. It may not be next season, but if he continues to put together strong years like this, teams will come calling.

Or if anything, maybe he can land a coaching position in the college ranks first. He understands how to get through to his players, and it has shown on the field of play.

Lynn has been credited with the dominance of the UCLA defense this season, and he more than deserves the award. Hopefully, he can win the award and be recognized for his achievements this season.
