UCLA Football: Bruins To Hire Former Texans Offensive Assistant As QB Coach
UCLA football is filling out their new coaching staff under DeShaun Foster. Less than a week after making the hiring of Eric Bieniemy as their new offensive coordinator official, the Bruins are now set to hire a new quarterbacks coach.
The Bruins are set to bring in former Houston Texans offensive assistant and quarterbacks coach Ted White to become their new QB coach, via Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports. UCLA has not made the hire of White official.
Prior to working for the Texans, White was an offensive coordinator at Grambling State. White has also worked as a quarterbacks coach at Prarie View A&M, Arkansas Pine-Bluff, Howard, Southern and Texas Southern.
Former Penn State quarterback Billy Fessler was hired earlier this offseason to coach the Bruins' quarterbacks, but that was before Chip Kelly left and DeShaun Foster was named the school's new head coach.
The quarterbacks coach will be working under Foster and Bieniemy. They will also be working with Ethan Garbers. Garbers played eight games in 2023, with UCLA going 6-2 in those games. He completed 67.1% of his passes for 1,136 yards, 11 touchdowns and three interceptions. Continuing to develop Garbers and the other UCLA quarterbacks will be the top priority heading into 2024.
