UCLA Football: Bruins Vet Changes Mind, Withdrawing From Transfer Portal

The Bruins got lucky with another transfer portal player changing their mind.

The UCLA Bruins have been hit hard by players entering the transfer portal, and those who have declared for the NFL Draft. They just lost two starters on defense as both DBs Kamari Ramsey and John Humphrey left to follow D'Anton Lynn to USC.

Though it has not been stated directly, it could be that many players are upset that Chip Kelly was retained by the school as head coach for another season. Either way, the team has been dealing with many players leaving for new journeys.

The team was set to lose another veteran player, Offensive Guard Spencer Holstege. Holstege had decided to enter the transfer portal but has since changed his mind.

Hosltege had transferred from Purdue and started every game at guard for UCLA. He will be responsible for protecting Ethan Garbers in the 2024 season.

Garbers should be happy to have Holstege back in the rotation, as his departure would have meant that a less experienced player would be protecting his blind side.

Despite the rough year that the offensive line had this year, Holstege returning gives the team another solid starter without having to hope they can land a gem from the transfer portal.

With the team heading into the Big Ten, they will need to solidify the offensive line to give themselves a better chance at hanging with teams like Michigan and Ohio State.
