Your UCLA Bruins football program hired Eric Bieniemy earlier in the week to be their next offensive coordinator under new head coach DeShaun Foster.

Bieniemy joins the Bruins after previously serving as the OC for the reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, as well as Washington Commanders. Bieniemy's former head coach with the Chiefs, Andy Reid, shared his thoughts on the move at the NFL Scouting Combine today, per Chiefs Communications.

"I'm a big believer in Eric Bieniemy," Reid raved. "Wherever he goes and whatever he does, he's going to be good at. He did that at Washington, he helped change a culture there that they'll build on. He's going to demand greatness out of you. He'll do the same thing at UCLA. He'll go a great job."

"He's got an opportunity to do his thing on offense. He knows the landscape, he's been at UCLA before. Maybe he's a head coach at the college level."

Bieniemy has certainly had success as an NFL offensive coordinator. He helped coach the Chiefs to some of their best offensive performances from 2018-2022. This included scheming the offense when Patrick Mahomes won both of his NFL MVP awards, in 2018 and 2022. The Chiefs also won two Super Bowl championships during this time under Bieniemy.

Bieniemy also proved he can put together a successful offense without Mahomes on the Commanders. Though the Commanders struggled toward the end of the year, Bieniemy had their offense rolling with an inexperienced quarterback in Sam Howell at the beginning of the year.

Beyond his accolades, Bieniemy has support from one of the best coaches in the NFL in Andy Reid. Reid worked closely with Bieniemy for almost decade, and his support should have Bruins fans excited for UCLA's new offense.
