UCLA Football: Chip Kelly Gushes Over Performance of All Five Quarterbacks
It was another explosive afternoon at the Rose Bow, with the UCLA Bruins beating North Carolina Central, 59-7.
The game really wasn't all that close. UCLA started pulling many of its first-stringers midway through the second quarter. By the end of the game, it was a parade of walk-ons and true freshmen getting snaps.
Dante Moore had another stellar game for the Bruins. In limited action, Moore went 8-of-12 for 182 yards and 2 TDs. He once again demonstrated why many believe he should be firmly affirmed as QB1. While Head Coach Chip Kelly seemingly refuses to do so for reasons unknown, he did talk about all five of his QBs who got into the game (in a video per Mike Regalado of BruinReportOnline):
"I thought Dante did a really good job, again. He’s extremely poised. He does a great job throwing the ball and giving guys catchable balls when there’s territory there. I think he fits the ball in really well. You saw Colin next. I think Colin’s athleticism has shown in both games that he has played in. We’ve been up by so much that we really haven’t got an opportunity to let him throw very often. Garbs did a really nice job when he was in there, and Ethan has played a lot of football for us. We are really comfortable with Ethan, and when he runs our offense, I think that we do a really good job. We click."

In addition to Moore, we saw the likes of Colin Schlee, Ethan Garbers, Chase Griffin, and Justyn Martin.
Schlee's wheels were on display again as he rushed for a 57-yard touchdown on a zone-read look. He looks like a real weapon for UCLA in certain packages. We didn't really take too much away from the performances of Garbers, Griffin, or Martin.
It is quite rare for a team to roll out five quarterbacks in a single game. However, it also speaks to the staff in terms of developing a fleet of options who could help the Bruins in a pinch if needed.
