UCLA Football: DeShaun Foster Making Instant Impact On Bruins Fundraising
We're on day three of the DeShaun Foster era, and he's wasting no time making his mark.
In his introductory press conference on Tuesday, Foster said he and UCLA athletic director Martin Jarmond would meet with donors and Men of Westwood to begin developing a NIL plan on Wednesday.
Foster realizes this is a new era of college football, and NIL makes the college landscape go around.
The Bruins need to be on top of the NIL landscape, and Foster is making it his top priority. Foster was consistently asked about NIL and his approach to it throughout his press conference. He laid out their plans for evolving the football program and how he plans to tie in recruiting, NIL, and the transfer portal.
Recruiting has always been a priority in college sports; however, adding in two different dynamics gets a lot tougher. That's the world we live in now, and UCLA must get with the times. It's an ever-evolving world, and Foster seems to align with it.
For those unaware, the Men of Westwood is a group run by top-level UCLA supporters to assist football and men's basketball student-athletes. Their job is to foster and facilitate NIL opportunities with businesses, donors, and fans to ensure success on and off the field.
In the world of college football, it's about off the field as much as it is on the field. Players want to play and play well, but they also want to get paid. If a school can't provide that, well, they'll go somewhere else, hence the transfer portal.
It's a whole new game, and it'll be up to Jarmond, Foster, and his crew to play the game and become experts at it.
