UCLA Football: Ex-Ivy League Transfer Officially Heading To Westwood
With the way that the season ended for the UCLA Bruins, they know that adding more talent to the roster was key this offseason. UCLA has been active in the transfer portal and they've been trying to build off the success they saw this year.
While UCLA has added some pieces to the mix, they have also lost a few bodies as well. The defense that was a strong calling card for them this past season has seen players leave, so replacing the production is crucial.
The Bruins did land one solid lineback, as former Yale player Joseph Vaughn decided to commit to UCLA a few weeks ago. UCLA has now officially made the announcement, making Vaughn a member of the program.
Vaughn brings experience to the table, having played for three years at Yale. He emerged in 2023 as one of the better defensive players for the team.
He finished 2023 with 88 total tackles to go along with three interceptions. Vaughn also added two sacks and three forced fumbles to his stat sheet as well.
He should fit right in with the UCLA defense, and projects to be a starter. Vaughn was named as an All-Ivy League First Team selection as well.
The experience that he brings will help the UCLA defense that has lost so much talent. They were dominant a year ago, but he provides some hope for another strong season.
New defensive coordinator Ikaika Malloe will love his physicality, and ability to get into the backfield. Vaughn presents a nice opportunity for the Bruins, and he should provide some solid highlights for this team throughout next season.
