UCLA Football: Four-Star Bruins Commit Visiting Rival Club This Weekend

The Bruins have a competitor for a big commitment.
In this story:

Recruiting, by its nature, is a difficult and cutthroat part of college football.

Schools around the country are going after prospects that could be a good fit in their programs, and, commitment or not, the pact is never truly finalized until pen is put to paper on National Signing Day.

And your UCLA Bruins football program has a clear competitor for an impact commit.

Running back/receiver Derrick McFall, a four-star UCLA commit in the Class of 2024 from Tyler, Texas, is set to officially visit SMU this weekend.

McFall, the highest-ranked prospect to pledge to the Bruins so far in the 2024 class, committed to UCLA after a fast recruiting process.

He was offered by UCLA in July and committed to the school on August 4, per Tracy Pierson of Bruin Report Online

Now, McFall will visit a school that sits just 100 miles away from Tyler and that "hometown" effect could prove a decent obstacle for the Bruins to overcome.

McFall has not visited the UCLA campus as of this writing.

He's one of just two running backs committed to UCLA in the 2024 class -- the other being three-star Cameron Jones from California prep powerhouse St. John Bosco -- so keeping McFall in the fold should be a priority for his lead recruiter, receivers coach Jerry Neuheisel, and the Bruins.

It will be interesting to see if anything notable comes out from McFall's SMU visit, and that's definitely something for UCLA fans to keep an eye out for in the coming days.
