The UCLA Bruins are less than a month away from the start of the season, and it will be an anticipated one.

There is a ton to look forward to going into the season, and at the top of the list is who will be QB1. UCLA and their fans knew a new QB would be under center in 2023, with Dorian Thompson-Robinson leaving for the NFL.

The Bruins have many options at hand, and one of their top choices is freshman quarterback Dante Moore. Moore is likely to be QB1, but head coach Chip Kelly wants there to be a competition and didn't give any leads on one during the Pac-12 media day.

A competition is currently taking place, and I'm sure it'll be good for the squad and the guys competing. Although every single one of the QBs who are competing wants the job, it's important to remember to root for your teammates at the same time.

Moore emphasized that although he wants to be the guy, he feels it's more important to be a great teammate and have a healthy competition. At the end of the day, he wants what's best for the team.

“Really, if you really just want to worry about yourself, I kind of feel that we all think that’s selfish, really,” Moore said. “When it comes to a team, if you have selfish players on the team, that’s not going to be a great team at all, it’s not going to be a winning team.“

If we take [the competition] too seriously and take it to the point where we’re not talking to each other and probably arguing or whatever it is, being mad about our reps, it’s just not going be great. You know, as a team you don’t want to worry about your personal goal, things you’re doing. You want to be a great team, win football games.”

It's clear Moore cares more about winning than being the star, and that's who you want on your squad.

Everybody wants to be the man, but that's not always the case, especially in sports. Football is a team sport, and it's impossible to be successful without solid teammates, and Moore is undoubtedly one of those.

The quarterback competition is what everyone will look at, and the guys battling will do their best to get the job but also be great teammates along the way.
