UCLA Football: Key Defender Previews How Club Will Cover Caleb Williams Saturday
The UCLA Bruins and USC Trojans have been rivals for decades, but that long-standing rivalry is set to end this Saturday. Both teams have been knocked out of playoff contention, but they can still retain bragging rights for all of eternity.
Both the Bruins and Trojans are set to move to the Big Ten conference starting next season, so Saturday's matchup will indeed be the final time they face off with one another as part of the Pac-12.
One of the biggest ways the Bruins can secure their victory is by containing Caleb Williams, and his ability to escape blitzes. Linebacker Kain Medrano spoke to reporters about how the team plans to do just that.
Medrano begins by hurling praise at Caleb Williams, who won the Heisman Trophy last year. He then goes into detail about how the team plans to stop his mobility. The name of the game is patience, and UCLA will need plenty of that.
Williams has been able to show that despite being chased down by defenders, he can make moves to escape danger and launch the ball into the end zone. Medrano and the company will need to ensure they move in when it's necessary to stop Williams from making those big plays.
Medrano currently has two sacks and one forced fumble on the year. We imagine he wants to log more of both when the Bruins face off with their crosstown rivals for the final time on Saturday.
