UCLA Football News: Bruins in The Running For Top 2024 Edge Rusher
The UCLA Bruins are not on the right side of the 2024 recruiting class. According to 247Sports, UCLA is ranked 59th in the 2024 recruit rankings. At the moment, they only have seven three-star recruits, one four-star recruit, and zero five-star recruit.
That isn't promising for a team who is trying to make a name for themselves. Nonetheless, their fortunes on that end can change if they are able to land one of the best prospects from the 2024 class.
The Bruins are in the running for the number three 2024 edge rusher Elijah Rushing from the state of Arizona. He's still undecided, and the Athletics Ari Wasserman breaks down the Rushing-UCLA chances.
Rushing is the first five-star prospect from Tucson since
Bijan Robinson
, also a Salpointe product, in the Class of 2020. At the time, Kevin Sumlin was the head coach at Arizona, and the
Wildcats
never had a chance to land Robinson.
They didn’t really try all that hard, either
. Effort will not be the problem in Arizona’s pursuit of Rushing. Jedd Fisch and his staff signed a top-25 class in the 2022 cycle and are doing all they can to win a national recruitment of a local prospect. Rushing took an official visit to Arizona even though his high school is only 2.2 miles away. He has also taken official visits to UCLA, Notre Dame and Oregon and will be at Tennessee this weekend. Will the Wildcats get their first five-star prospect in program history?

The chances of Rushing choosing his home state college Arizona Wildcats, are pretty high, but that won't stop the Bruins from pursuing him.
Rushing has a 96.5 rating, according to On3, and he has excellent length and huge potential at the position. The incoming senior stands at 6'6" 250 pounds with elite playmaking ability.
He's still undecided, and even though the chances of him choosing UCLA are low, you're never out of it till it's over.
